Easter tour among the Italian Lakes

A complete well-organized private tour in order to spend your Easter in the Lake District of Northern Italy!
You will discover Lake Maggiore and their beautiful Borromean Islands, the romantic smaller Lake Orta, with its cute and intimate atmosphere, the luxury of Lake Como and its main destinations, such as Brunate and Bellagio.
You will move towards the Franciacorta region, so famous for its wines, by discovering the largest lake-island in Europe, thanks to a private cruise on Lake Iseo.
And you will finish your tour with the largest lake in Italy: Lake Garda, where nature is mild and its villages are so rich in history and art, such as the charming Sirmione!

 

DAY 01 – Friday  10th April 2020 – LAKE MAGGIORE
Landing at the airport and transfer to Lake Maggiore surroundings by self-drive car.
Accommodation at a 4* hotel in Stresa or Baveno. Time at your leisure for individual activities, relax and individual dinner. Overnight at th hotel.

DAY 02 – Saturday 11th April 2020 – BORROMEAN ISLES, LAKE MAGGIORE
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer by public taxi-boat to ISOLA BELLA (the Beautiful Island). Meeting with your private qualified multilingual-speaking tourist guide for a complete visit (mansion and gardens)
The construction of the baroque palace started in 1632 thanks to Carlo III Borromeo, who dedicated it to Isabella d’Adda, his wife. Their son Vitaliano carried on the project and he wanted the magnificent setting of its blooming terraced gardens. The palace boasts a precious collection of painting and rooms rich in tapestries, furniture and objects of art.
Time at your leisure for shopping along “Vicolo del Fornello”, with some prestigious brands of the so-called Made in Italy. Transfer to ISOLA DEI PESCATORI (the Fishermen’s Island) by public taxi-boat.
Belonging to the well-known Borromean Gulf, it is the most picturesque of them, as well as the only one to be permanently inhabited. The ancient small village is characterized by narrow lanes with two-story houses, with long balconies traditionally used for drying fish. Its unmistakable skyline is punctuated by the pointed spire of San Vittore Church, which is a national monument and preserves its original apse with a single lancet window dated back to XI century. Time at your leisure for lunch. In the afternoon, time at your leisure in order to discover Stresa or Baveno historical centres by your own.

DAY 03 – Sunday 12th April 2020 – ORTA, LAKE ORTA
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to Lake Orta by self-drive car. (about 1 hour length)
Meeting with a private licensed tour guide at ORTA. Walking tour to the intimate historical centre in order to discover the jewels of that beautiful lakeside village: narrow alleys, ancient buildings, rich churches and picturesque corners. Transfer by public ferry-boat to ST. JULIUS’S ISLE, where you will enjoy the visit to the Basilica close to which there is the monumental old Seminary. The small island, just west of the lakeshore village of Orta San Giulio, takes its name from a local patron saint (Julius of Novara), who lived in the second half of IV century. A plaesant walk along its silence narrow alleys and then, back to Orta.
Time at your leisure for lunch. In the afternoon, time at your leisure in order to discover the surroundings by your own. Back to Stresa or Baveno. Individual dinner. Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 04 – Monday 13th April, COMO & BRUNATE, LAKE COMO
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to Lake Como surroundings by self-drive car. (about 1 hour and 30 minutes length)
Accommodation at a 4* hotel in Como or Cernobbio. Time at your leisure for individual activities, relax and individual lunch.
In the afternoon meeting in COMO with your private qualified multilingual-speaking tourist guide for a pleasant walking tour to its historical centre in order to discover the jewels of that beautiful lakeside city. Founded by the Romans, it is surrounded by medieval walls on its three sides and it has many cute squares, elegant mansions and lots of monuments: the Cathedral is the best-known, thanks to its Gothic and Renaissance features and precious works of art. The tour will include an amazing experinece: by cableway onto the cute touristic village of BRUNATE (about 700 m. above the sea level) to enjoy the panorama over the lake. Back to Como, time at your leisure for shopping and dinner.

DAY 05 – Tuesday 14th April 2020 – BELLAGIO & VILLA MELZI D’ERIL, LAKE COMO
Breakfast at the hotel. Meeting in Como with your private qualified multilingual-speaking tourist guide.
Cruise by speedy public hydrofoil towards BELLAGIO, “the pearl of Lake Como”, situated on the tip of a promontory at the end of a mountainous chain where the lake forks.
A private guided visit to the huge poark of VILLA MELZI D’ERIL, built between 1808 and 1810 for Francesco Melzi d’Eril (1753-1816), Duke of Lodi, Vice President of the Italian Republic under Napoleon and then Grand Chancellor of the Napoleonic Reign of Italy. The English-style gardens were designed by the architect Luigi Canonica and by the botanist Luigi Villoresi and are rich of rare plants, flowers and important statues. Then, you will enjoy a stroll in the historical centre along the narrow alleys dotted by cute shops and restaurant. Time at your leisure for lunch, individual activities and shopping. Back to Como by hydrofoil by your own. Time at your lesiure for dinner.

DAY 06 – Wednesday 15th April 2020 –  MONTEISOLA, LAKE ISEO – LAKE GARDA
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to LAKE ISEO surroundings by self-drive car. (about 2 hours’ length).
Time at your leisure for individual activities, relax and individual lunch. Early in the afternoon meeting with a private licensed tour guide at Sulzano.
A pleasant cruise on Lake Iseo by private taxi-boat, in order to enjoy a complete tour with amazing perspectives around its three islands (San Paolo, Loreto and Monteisola).
Dock on MONTEISOLA, the largest inhabited lake island in Europe. It is like a green mountain, just in the middle of the lake, which rises at 600 m. a.s.l.
Guided visit to the well-known “Museo della Rete”, (Net Museum) discovering the ancient traditions about fishing, thanks to some tools and black and white photographs exhibited.
Transfer to Lake Garda surroundings by self-drive car. Accommodation at a 4* hotel in Desenzano or Sirmione.
Invidual dinner. Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 07 – Thursday 16th April 2020 –  SIRMIONE, LAKE GARDA
Breakfast at the hotel. Meeting with a licensed private tourist guide at SIRMIONE. Because of its enviable position at the end of a peninsula, stretching out into the lake, and the charming views of its old centre, Sirmione is one of the most popular tourist destinations of Lake Garda, chosen and loved by artists and poets of all ages for its charming atmosphere and beauty. A mini-cruise by private taxi-boat in order to enjoy a tour of the peninsula overlooking Maria Callas’s villa and the archaeological site of Catullo’s Grottoes. Stop at Fonte Boiola to admire the bubbles of an underwater spring that flows from the bottom of the lake, after overtaking the Medieval Castle and passing under the bridge entrance of the village. A short walking guided tour of the historical centre, entering the striking medieval village, protected at its entrance by an elegant fortress, called Rocca Scaligera. Time at your lesiure for lunch, other visits by your own or shopping.

DAY 08 – Friday 17th April 2020
Back to the airport by self-drive car. End of services.
